Día de los Reyes Magos

Celebration with the traditional Three Kings Parade (Cabalgata de Reyes), where the Kings arrive and give gifts, especially for children.

In Nerja, the Día de Reyes Magos (Three Kings' Day) is celebrated on January 6, 2026, often with festivities taking place few days before. 

Cabalgata de Reyes Magos – The Three Kings Parade

  • Date & Time: Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 5:00 PM

  • Route: The parade will follow the traditional route through Nerja’s main streets, including Calle Diputación, Plaza Cavana, Calle Granada, Ermita, Calle San Miguel, Plaza Cantarero, Calle Pintada, Puerta del Mar, and conclude at the Balcón de Europa.

  • Highlights:

    • Arrival of the Kings: At 4:00 PM, the Three Kings will arrive at the Balcón de Europa to greet the public.

    • Parade: Starting at 5:00 PM, the Kings, accompanied by their entourage, will parade through the streets, distributing sweets and gifts to children.

    • Adoration Scene: Upon reaching the Balcón de Europa, the Kings will participate in the traditional adoration of the Baby Jesus in front of the Church of El Salvador.

    • Magical Key Ceremony: The Kings will receive the "magical key" from the mayor, symbolizing their ability to deliver gifts to every home in Nerja.

    • Farewell: The evening will conclude with a fireworks display from the Town Hall balcony.

Cartero Real – Royal Postman

  • Date & Time:

  • Location: Plaza de España

  • Description: Children can deliver their letters to the Royal Postman, ensuring their wishes reach the Kings in time for the parade.

Roscón de Reyes – King's Cake

  • Tradition: On January 6, families gather to enjoy the Roscón de Reyes, a round cake decorated with candied fruits symbolizing jewels.

  • Custom: Inside the cake, a figurine and a bean are hidden. The person who finds the figurine is crowned king or queen for the day, while the one who finds the bean is expected to buy the Roscón the following year.
