Moclinejo - Fiesta de Viñeros ( Wine Growers Festival )
DETAILED INFO TO BE CONFIRMED
On 13 September, Moclinejo will celebrate the 26th edition of Día de Viñeros (Winegrowers’ Day), one of the municipality’s most representative festivals and a heartfelt tribute to those who, generation after generation, have dedicated their hard work to cultivating the vines and preserving the area’s agricultural traditions.
Located in a unique setting in the heart of the “Moscatel Heart” of the Axarquía region of Málaga, Moclinejo celebrates the work of its farmers, the true protagonists of the town’s history and identity. Their dedication has helped preserve the landscape, culture and winemaking heritage that make this area so distinctive.
As a result of this commitment to preserving its agricultural heritage, on 19 April 2018 the Axarquía became the first territory in Europe to be recognised by the FAO as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS). This international recognition highlights the exceptional value of the traditional cultivation and production of the Moscatel raisin grape.
Throughout the day, accompanied by the traditional sounds of Verdiales music, the streets of Moclinejo will become a living open-air museum. Local residents and associations will recreate traditional viticultural activities, allowing visitors to see first-hand practices such as grape treading, raisin sifting and the traditional cutting and preparation of raisins, showcasing the skills and customs that have shaped the history of the municipality.
Visitors to Moclinejo will also be able to enjoy free tastings of some of the town’s most traditional products, including borrachuelos made with Moscatel wine, fresh Moscatel grapes and Moclinejo’s distinctive Moscatel wine — authentic expressions of the area’s gastronomy, culture and winemaking heritage.
This event is organised by the participating establishments and promoters. Nerja Amigos accepts no responsibility for the services provided, or any changes to the programme. Show durations and ending times may vary.
