đź”®Luna, Max and Nico - The Tuesday Market Chakra Quest (and the Buddha Bowl)đź”®
Tuesday morning in Nerja has its own gentle buzz. At the Nerja Local Market.
Not noisy, not rushed - just rows of stalls, friendly voices, and that fresh-market feeling that makes everything look brighter than it did at home.
Luna held Max’s hand as they stepped into the Tuesday local market, and Nico trotted beside them with his blue bandana bouncing, nose working like a professional explorer.
“Smell that?” Luna whispered. Max sniffed. “Fruit… herbs… and something warm.”
Mum smiled. “Good noses. Today we’re doing two missions.”
She lifted a basket. “Mission one: we’re buying fruit and vegetables in chakra colours to make a Buddha bowl for lunch.”
Max’s eyes lit up. “A rainbow bowl!”
“And mission two,” Mum added, holding up three shiny coins, “is the one-euro treasure hunt. One euro each. Find something useful, kind, or fun.”
Luna grinned. “Treasure time.” Nico sat down politely, as if he understood every word.
Mission One: Chakra Colour Shopping (Rainbow Food!)
They began at the fruit stalls, where everything looked like a painting: mandarinas glowing, strawberries shining, grapes stacked in neat piles, bananas hanging like little moons.
Mum crouched down so they could all see the colours clearly.
“Chakras are like little energy centres in our body,” she explained. “This is just a fun way to remember them and to keep the chakras in balance. A little bit of every colour helps us feel good.”
Luna nodded seriously. “We are building balance.”
Max nodded too. “We are building lunch.”
Fruit Chakra Picks
They chose fruit first - because market adventurers always need fuel.
Red: strawberries
Orange: mandarins
Yellow: bananas
Green: green grapes or kiwi
Purple: dark grapes
Luna peeled a mandarina slowly, the sweet smell bursting into the air. “Orange - creativity,” she whispered.
Max took a bite of banana. “Yellow - power fuel!”
Nico didn’t get a coin (because he was a dog), but he did get a tiny piece of apple from Luna, which he chewed proudly like he’d earned a medal.
“Hydration check,” Mum said, handing them water. “Market exploring uses brain energy.”
Luna nodded. “Fuel the adventurers.”
Vegetables in Chakra Colours (Buddha Bowl Ingredients)
Next came the vegetables - piles of tomatoes, peppers, carrots, cucumbers, onions, and leafy greens, all fresh and shiny as if they’d just woken up.
“Now we build the vegetable rainbow,” Mum said.
They chose:
Red: cherry tomatoes
Orange: carrots
Yellow: sweet corn or yellow pepper
Green: cucumber + avocado + leafy salad
Purple: red cabbage and beetroot
Extra energy: chickpeas (for a strong, happy tummy)
Max stared into the basket. “It really is a rainbow.”
“And when you eat lots of colours,” Mum said, “you get lots of different nutrients - that’s the science part of the chakra game.”
Nico sniffed the carrots and wagged his tail as if orange was his favourite.
AxarquĂa Honey: Sunshine in a Jar
They stopped at a stand lined with jars like little golden lanterns. “AxarquĂa honey,” Mum said happily. “This is the countryside in a jar.”
Luna leaned close. “It smells like flowers.” Max looked serious. “So it’s bee teamwork.”
“Exactly,” Mum said, choosing a jar. “We’ll drizzle a little over yoghurt and fruit for dessert.”
Nico tried to stare the jar open using only determination.
Herbs and Gentle Spices (Buddha Bowl Magic)
At another stall, Mum chose fresh herbs - a small bunch of parsley and chives (and a little mint too, because it smelled so fresh).
“And we’ll add just a tiny pinch of spice,” Mum said, “not for heat - for flavour.”
Luna sniffed and smiled. “It smells like the kitchen will be happy.”
Max nodded. “Happy bowl.”
Lavender Tea for a Calm Evening (or a Cozy Afternoon)
They found dried herbs tied in little bundles.
Mum picked up a bag of lavender. “This is for later. Herbal tea helps our body feel calm and cosy.”
Luna inhaled gently. “It smells like quiet.” Max nodded. “So our brains can rest.”
Nico sniffed it and looked confused, as if he couldn’t decide whether lavender was food or just… air.
The One-Euro Treasure Hunt (and Luna’s Incense)
Now Mum handed out the coins. “Remember,” she said, “useful, kind, or fun.”
Luna’s eyes spotted a little box at a stall near the end - with flowers and stars on it.
“Incense,” she read softly. The seller smiled. “One euro.”
Luna held it carefully. “Can I use my treasure money for this? It will make the house smell nice.”
Mum nodded. “That’s a beautiful choice. And we’ll use it safely - with an adult.”
Luna paid her one euro proudly. “Treasure for the nose.”
Nico sneezed once, just in case.
Max found a tiny notebook. “One euro,” said the seller.
Max held it up like a prize. “I’m going to write our Buddha bowl recipe and all the chakra colours in here. And what Nico tried to steal.”
Nico looked innocent. Very innocent.
And Nico? Nico’s nose led them straight to a stall with dog treats.
“One euro for a little bag,” the seller said. “Homemade.”
Max dropped the coin into Luna’s hand, Luna handed it over like a professional market shopper, and Nico carried his treasure for three seconds… before giving it to Mum, because Mum was the official Keeper of All Food.
A Mindful Market Moment (Chakra Calm)
Before leaving, Mum guided them to a quieter corner. “Let’s do our market calm,” she said. “Just one minute.”
They all stood still and used their senses:
See: Luna chose the purple grapes. Max chose the red tomatoes.
Hear: soft chatter, footsteps, and sellers calling prices.
Smell: mandarinas, herbs, and honey.
Feel: the cool water bottle, the smooth coins, and Nico’s fluffy fur.
“Balance isn’t only food,” Mum said quietly. “It’s also noticing.”
Luna touched her incense box. “And good smells.”
Max held up his notebook. “And remembering.”
Nico stared at the biscuit bag.
“And patience,” Mum laughed.
The Buddha Bowl Lunch + Sweet Dessert
Back home, Mum laid everything out on the table like treasure.
They built their Buddha bowls in colourful sections and added Toppings: chopped herbs + a tiny pinch of gentle spice + olive oil + lemon + black pepper
Luna arranged the colours neatly. “It’s a chakra rainbow.”
Max took a bite. “Crunchy calm.”
For dessert, Mum stirred yoghurt into bowls, topped it with market fruits, and finished with a drizzle of AxarquĂa honey.
“That,” Mum said, “is the sweet golden part.”
Later, they made a cup of herbal tea - warm, cosy, and quiet.
Mum opened the windows for fresh air, and Luna lit her incense safely with Mum’s help. A gentle scent floated through the house - like the market had followed them home.
Luna smiled. “Tuesday market day is the best day.”
Max nodded. “Rainbow day.”
Nico wagged his tail.
And yes - he got his biscuit reward.
Because even mindful adventurers deserve treats.
Mini Mindful Lesson
Eating a rainbow of fruit and veggies helps keep us feeling bright and balanced, because every colour brings its own little goodness.
