⛰️ Luna, Max & Nico - The Path to El Cielo and a Taste of Nepal ⛰️
It started just as the sun rose above Nerja, soft and golden. “Today,” Max said, holding the map tightly, “we follow the path to the sky.”
Luna smiled. She already knew where they were going - El Cielo, the mountain that rises high above Nerja. And at the very top Pico del Cielo - Peak of the Sky… or even Heaven’s Peak.
They began the walk near the Nerja caves, where the path gently welcomed them in - wide, easy, almost like a promise.
Nico trotted ahead, his little blue bandana dancing in the breeze, stopping every now and then as if he could hear secrets in the wind.
At first, it felt simple. Like a walk. But slowly… the mountain changed.
The path climbed higher.
The air grew quieter.
And the world below began to shrink.
“This feels like one of those old adventure stories,” Max whispered, looking up at the winding mountain path. “Like the secret trails where mountain bandits once hid high above Nerja.”
Luna looked around at the rocks and forests stretching into the distance. “It really does,” she said quietly. “Only… this time we’re the explorers writing the story ourselves.”
They walked through forests, past stones that looked like they had been there forever, and into a silence that felt almost magical. Somewhere far above, eagles circled. And far below, the sea shimmered like a memory.
The climb grew steeper now. Loose rocks. Careful steps. The kind of path that makes you slow down… and listen.
“This part is the hardest,” Max said. But Luna didn’t mind. Because something about it felt important. Like every step meant something.
And then… they reached it.
The top.
Pico del Cielo.
A place where the world opens in every direction - mountains behind them, the Mediterranean stretching endlessly ahead.
They stood there quietly.
No rush.
No noise.
Just wind… and wonder.
Far below, the sea sparkled beneath the afternoon sun, and for a moment Max imagined old pirate ships sailing across the Mediterranean, hidden somewhere between the mist and the horizon.
“Maybe bandits and pirates once watched the sea from up here too, or maybe they hid a treasure here” he whispered dramatically. Luna laughed.
“Max… why is everything always about bandits and pirates with you?” Max grinned.
“Because every great mountain needs a great story.”
“This view is the real treasure” Luna said softly. Nico barked happily, as if he agreed.
They sat down by the Pico del Cielo cross, taking out their sandwiches and water. For a while, they simply enjoyed the moment.
The view.
The silence.
The feeling of being high above everything. High up in the sky.
The wind moved softly around them, whispering through the rocks as if the mountain itself was telling old forgotten stories - about travellers, hidden paths, eagles above the cliffs and mysterious figures who once crossed these peaks long ago.
For a moment, Luna almost felt as though the mountain was alive… quietly speaking to those willing to slow down and listen.
But when they finished, Luna carefully folded the paper from her sandwich. Max picked up the empty bottles.
“We take everything back with us,” Luna said gently. Max nodded.
“The mountain gave us this view… this adventure… this feeling, we take care of it.”
A soft breeze curled around the rocks beside them, almost like the mountain itself was listening. And for one quiet moment, it felt as though Pico del Cielo was thanking them in return. Nico wagged his tail, as if he understood.
And just like that, they packed everything away - leaving nothing behind but footprints… and a quiet thank you.
🍛 And Then… Back to Warmth and FOOD
By the time they came down, the sun was already dipping low.
Tired legs.
Happy hearts.
And one very important thought…
“Food,” Max said dramatically. He rubbed his stomach and grinned. “We’re probably as hungry as the old mountain bandits by now. We need real adventure food!”
Luna laughed. “And what exactly is adventure food?”
Max smiled proudly. “Nepalese and Indian food at Namaste Restaurant, obviously. Proper spicy food for brave adventurers…”
Luna raised an eyebrow playfully. “And for less adventurous people like me,” she laughed, “there’s also plenty of milder dishes too.” Max nodded seriously.
The perfect place for hungry explorers.
The moment they stepped inside, it felt like coming home.
Warm lights.
Smiling faces.
And there she was… Sangeeta. “Namaste,” Luna and Max said together, smiling.
Sangeeta’s face lit up. “Namaste, my little adventurers,” she replied warmly.
Max’s eyes lit up immediately as he said proudly- “Sangeeta, today we want the kind of real adventure food, hungry mountain bandits would eat, after hiding in the mountains all day.”
“Lamb Madras,” he grinned. “Extra spicy!”
Luna burst out laughing. “Max! Again with the bandits!
Max leaned forward dramatically and whispered, “I’m just saying, if you climb mountains, you deserve spicy food.”
Luna shook her head, smiling. “I’ll stay with my favourite… butter chicken.” Rich, creamy, full of flavour - just the way she liked it.
Soon, the table filled with colour - steaming curry, fluffy rice, warm naan.
“We really love Nepalese and Indian food,” Luna added. Max nodded eagerly. “It’s the best!”
Max looked up at Sangeeta with bright eyes. “When we grow up… we’re going to Nepal. To hike Mount Everest!”
Luna giggled. “That’s a very big mountain, Max…” Max smiled confidently.
“Well… we already climbed El Cielo.”
Sangeeta laughed softly, but there was something gentle and thoughtful in her eyes as she looked at the three little adventurers.
“You know,” she said warmly, “the biggest mountains are not always the ones made of rock.” Luna and Max listened carefully.
“Sometimes,” Sangeeta continued, “the real journey is learning how to care - for nature, for people, and for each other. When you walk kindly through the world, respect the mountains, share your food, help others and leave beauty behind you… then you are already climbing something very special.”
Sangeeta smiled and placed more warm naan in the centre for everyone to share.
“That is what we believe here,” she said softly. “Everything is better when it is made with loving, caring… and sharing.”
Luna took a bite of her food and closed her eyes. “This,” she said softly, smiling, “is also magic.” Max laughed.
Nico wagged his tail proudly beneath the table, happily eating some rice and chewing the little lamb bones Max had carefully saved for him.
“See?” Max laughed. “Even Nico likes proper hungry bandit food.”
“Best ending ever.”
🌿 Mindful Mini Lesson:
When we explore nature, we are visitors in something truly special — a world of mountains, forests, sea winds and quiet stories older than ourselves.
Take only memories.
Leave only footprints.
Carry your rubbish home, walk gently, and treat the earth with kindness, because caring for nature is part of every real adventure.
And perhaps the greatest journeys are not only about reaching the top of the mountain, but about learning to care for the world around us, the people beside us, and the beautiful little moments we share along the way.
