Almáchar - Fiesta del Ajoblanco ( White Garlic Soup) Festival

The village celebrates its famous ajoblanco with free tastings, Moscatel grapes, raisins and wine, verdiales, flamenco, traditional scenes, children's activities and a popular verbena.

Almáchar once again becomes the capital of Ajoblanco!

On Saturday, 5 September, Almáchar celebrates the 56th Ajoblanco Festival, a day dedicated to local traditions, gastronomy and a fantastic festive atmosphere.

Throughout the day you can enjoy:

  • Free tastings of ajoblanco, ajoblanco paste, local wine, raisins and Moscatel grapes

  • A workshop where you can learn how to make traditional ajoblanco

  • Guided tours and free admission to the Raisin Museum

  • Theatrical performances and traditional Verdiales street parades

  • Performances by choirs, dance schools and Verdiales groups

  • Exhibition of the 5th “Windows to Art and Moscatel” Painting Competition

  • Official ceremony, including the festival speech and presentation of the Ajoblanco Awards 2026

  • A spectacular Flamenco Night

  • Charity street party with live music

  • Kids Zone for younger visitors

  • Free shuttle bus service from Torre del Mar Bus Station

A celebration that honours the village’s roots, the heritage of the Moscatel raisin grape, and the warm hospitality of Almáchar.

Free tasting at Paseo de la Axarquía and Plaza del Santo Cristo de la Banda Verde.

12:30 – Traditional Raisin Workshop
“Pica de Pasas” workshop at Plaza del Santo Cristo de la Banda Verde, organised by the Teatro El Lugá association.

12:00–20:00 – Art Exhibition
5th “Ventanas al Arte y al Moscatel” painting competition exhibition at the Centro de Arte y Desarrollo (CAD).
Official opening at 12:00.

17:00 – Verdiales Street Parade
Traditional parade through the streets with the Panda de Verdiales de El Borge.

18:00–20:30 – Performances in Plaza de España

  • Coro “Luz de Luna” from Almáchar

  • Municipal Dance School: ballet, alegría, revuelo, alboroto and modern dance

  • Panda de Verdiales de El Borge

A route through the village with free tastings of ajoblanco and Moscatel grapes.

Festival speech and presentation of the Ajoblanco Awards 2026.

The festival speech will be given by Manuel Sarria Cuevas, comedian and television presenter.

22:00 – Flamenco Night – Plaza de España

Live entertainment with Infinity Show, Miguel Botana and DJ Antonio Hierro.
Chicken with Moscatel and sangria available for €1 while supplies last, benefiting the animal rescue and protection association Santuario Punei-Punei.
