The celebrations begin in Nerja, where, for the third consecutive year, the town will host the official promotional parade for the renowned Macharaviaya 4th of July Celebrations. The event honours the remarkable legacy of Bernardo de Gálvez and the historic connection between Andalucía and the United States.
The procession will begin at Pasaje de Calle del Carmen, continue along Calle Diputación and Calle El Barrio, before reaching the Balcón de Europa via Plaza Cavana. Throughout the route, the Nerja Municipal Band will accompany the parade, while visitors can enjoy a historical reenactment by the Order of the Grenadiers and the Ladies of Gálvez.

The celebrations continue the following evening in Macharaviaya, the birthplace of Bernardo de Gálvez, with one of Málaga Province's most distinctive historical festivals.
This year's official poster is rich in symbolism, celebrating the legacy of Bernardo de Gálvez and the important role that Macharaviaya and its most famous son played in supporting the American War of Independence. The soldiers depicted on the poster represent the battles of the era, while Bernardo de Gálvez takes centre stage as the celebrations commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence.
Expect an unforgettable evening of historical reenactments, traditional music, local gastronomy, and Andalusian culture, as the village comes alive to celebrate its remarkable place in history and the enduring friendship between Spain and the United States.
