Just a few metres from the crossing where Calle La Cruz becomes Calle Pintada, one of Nerja’s most charming shopping streets, you’ll find Cafelatte, a little sanctuary for coffee lovers, slow mornings, and simple good taste. The comforting aroma of freshly ground beans fills the air as sunlight spills through the parasols, blending perfectly with the soft hum of friendly chatter. It’s no wonder this spot is one of Nerja Amigos’ chosen favourite family cafés.
Run by a father and his two daughters, Cafelatte is full of heart. They’re charming, friendly, and wonderfully attentive. Their warmth and easy smiles reflect the best of what Nerja is known for - that genuine friendliness that makes this town so special.
One of the things that truly sets Cafelatte apart is its passion for specialty coffee. Working in collaboration with Nerja Coffee Roasters, a small artisanal coffee roasting company known for ethically sourced and expertly roasted beans, they pour every cup with care and consistency. Whether you go for a velvety cappuccino, a balanced flat white, or a bold espresso, you can taste the craftsmanship - in every sip.
Cafelatte is one of those places we often stop at after a morning walk through town, when the streets are just waking up and the light is golden. The first coffee of the day here is always perfect - rich, smooth, and full of life. We like to pair it with a bacon sandwich or the typical Spanish “sandwich mixto” with ham and cheese, toasted just right. There’s plenty to choose from, both sweet and savoury, and the prices are very reasonable for being right in the heart of town.
The menu goes well beyond our favorite sandwiches, to breakfast menus, different teas and natural juices, light lunches, creppes, smoothies and a selection of fresh salads and raciones - perfect for sharing. You’ll also find lactose-free options, along with tempting daily specials and offers.
The location makes it ideal for breakfast before a bit of shopping, or a relaxing stop after exploring the boutiques and artisan stores along Calle Pintada. You can also drop by lunchtime for a homemade sweet and a cup of that specialty coffee, or even a glass of something stronger once your shopping bags are full.
Our favourite spot is outside on the terrace, where you can sit back and watch the world go by; neighbours greeting each other, visitors exploring, life unfolding at its own Nerja pace. And on the rare rainy mornings that Nerja gets, it’s a pleasure to sit inside; the interior is cosy and chic, beautifully decorated with soft tones and a modern touch of style. It’s also one of those cafés where you feel comfortable sitting alone, just watching the world go by.
Everything they serve reflects a quiet attention to detail. From the locally roasted coffee beans to the generous toasts, homemade cakes, and vegan and vegetarian options, every plate and cup feels considered and cared for.
