Málaga’s Museum of Illusions - Mind-bending Fun for All Family

Looking for something a bit different to do with the kids while in southern Spain? Just an easy bus ride from Nerja, Málaga is packed with exciting family experiences—and one of our absolute favourites is the Museum of Illusions. This colourful, quirky museum is the perfect mix of education, entertainment, and a whole lot of laughter.

Located just a short stroll from Málaga’s port, the museum offers over 30 interactive exhibits that mess with your perception and spark imagination. Step into the Vortex Tunnel and feel like you're defying gravity, explore rooms that flip the laws of physics, and watch as your kids appear to float, shrink, or walk on walls. It's a great way to introduce little ones to the science of how the brain sees and interprets the world—without ever feeling like a lesson.

The museum is ideal for children aged 5 and up (though younger ones will still have plenty of fun), and it only takes about an hour to explore—making it a perfect stop during a day of sightseeing. It’s indoors and air-conditioned, so especially welcome on hot summer afternoons.

Getting there couldn’t be simpler. Buses from Nerja to Málaga run regularly throughout the day and drop you right in the city centre. Once you're there, the whole family can enjoy even more adventures—think the Roman Theatre, the Alcazaba, the stunning harbour, or a paddle at the beach. And don’t forget ice creams or tapas in the old town!
