Gala Luxury Homes started with an unexpected meeting between two childhood friends in Nerja during the summer of 2021.
By then, Emil had already spent many years working within real estate on the Costa del Sol. What began as a career as a real estate agent had gradually evolved into something much broader, becoming involved in new developments, acquisition of real estate assets, structuring SPVs, and working closely behind the scenes on some of the region’s most interesting projects.
Nils came from a very different background. With years of experience in construction and company management in Sweden, his strengths were more operational — understanding how businesses are built, managed and developed over time.
Although they had known each other since childhood, life had taken them in different directions. But after reconnecting in Nerja, they quickly realised they shared the same vision of what real estate on the Costa del Sol could be.
Not simply transactional.
Not just another agency.
But something more personal, long-term and genuinely relationship-driven.
That shared vision became the foundation of Gala Luxury Homes.
What began as a smaller operation has gradually evolved into a company working primarily within new developments and master brokerage, representing developers and helping structure the commercial side of projects from an early stage. Alongside this, Gala also participates in selected joint ventures connected to real estate development and hospitality.
Today, the company works across several areas linked to investment, development and lifestyle, mainly in Nerja and the surrounding area - from helping international clients establish businesses locally, to operating hospitality concepts and collaborating on exciting new projects across the region. There is a strong appreciation for preserving the Andalusian charm, atmosphere and architectural identity that make Nerja and the Costa del Sol so special in the first place.
There is also a clear awareness of building responsibly - with consideration for good environmental practices and a genuine effort to keep close to the wishes and concerns of local neighbourhoods and communities as projects evolve.
A newer addition to the company is Gala’s own in-house design studio, led by colleague Madeleine, whose background spans both design and project management in Sweden and Spain.
Together, the team creates tailored projects with the client’s lifestyle and vision at the centre — blending timeless elegance and Scandinavian simplicity with the relaxed, natural beauty of Mediterranean living.
Madeleine and Emil first met in Nerja back in 2018 and have remained in contact ever since. Last year, the opportunity arose to officially begin this collaboration, bringing together their shared experience, creativity and passion as Gala Luxury Homes continues moving towards its long-term vision.
What particularly stands out to Nerja Amigos was Gala’s fresh and youthful approach, combined with a calm professionalism that feels increasingly rare. There is ambition and vision behind the company, but equally a genuine ability to listen, understand clients and build trust over time.
There is also a reassuring feeling of truly being heard, respected and looked after throughout the process - something that, in today’s fast-moving property world, can often make all the difference.
Despite the company’s growth, the original idea remains much the same: To create something local, long-term and built around people as much as property.
