XXIV Peña La Soleá Flamenco Singing Competition - First Qualifying Round
Peña Flamenca La Soleá presents the 24th edition of its Flamenco Singing Competition, an important annual event celebrating and promoting the art of flamenco.
The qualifying rounds will take place on Saturdays throughout September, leading up to the Grand Final on Saturday, 3 October.
First Qualifying Round – 5 September
The competition begins with five flamenco singers from across Andalucía:
María José Abad Rosales (María José Abad) – Córdoba
Miguel Ángel Lara Solano (El Canario) – El Saucejo, Seville
José Miguel González Pérez (El Chiclanero) – Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz
Juan Francisco González Lara (El LaRa) – Málaga
Francisco Antonio Jiménez Gómez (El Canana) – Guillena, Seville
They will be accompanied by the competition’s official guitarist, Antonio Migueles, together with Manuel Sánchez (Arroyito hijo) and Isaac Santana.
The competition is organised with the support of the Department of Culture of Nerja Town Hall and numerous local sponsors.
Flamenco lovers are invited to come along and enjoy an evening of traditional cante flamenco at Peña La Soleá.
Entry to witness the competition is free until capacity is reached.
