Half a Million Reasons to Celebrate!
November begins with a very special milestone for Nerja Amigos. We have now reached half a million viewers every month across our social media, website and mobile apps!
What started as an idea to bring together everything happening in Nerja and the Axarquía has grown into a thriving local platform, connecting residents, visitors and businesses with the places, people and experiences that make this corner of Andalucía so special.
And we're not stopping here! This November, Nerja Amigos is expanding onto TikTok, bringing you even more glimpses of local life, hidden corners, wonderful places to discover and, of course, what's happening around town.
A Huge Thank You to everyone who reads, follows, shares, contributes and supports Nerja Amigos. This milestone belongs to all of you, and we look forward to continuing to grow together.
Bringing Local Businesses Together
October also marked another exciting first: our inaugural Nerja Amigos Business Club meeting!
The idea is simple: to bring local business owners and managers together in a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment where we can exchange ideas, share experiences, build connections and explore opportunities to work together.
Whether you run a restaurant, shop, hotel, wellness business or any other local enterprise, you're welcome to join us.
The Business Club is open to anyone who owns or manages a business in Nerja or the surrounding Axarquía area. We hope to build a community where businesses support one another and where good ideas can turn into exciting local initiatives.
Interested in joining our next meeting? Simply contact us at info@nerjaamigos.com. We'd love to hear from you.
November – Traditions, Markets and the First Signs of Christmas
As the busy summer season becomes a distant memory and the pace of life settles into autumn, November brings a different kind of charm to Nerja and the Axarquía.
The month begins with Día de Todos los Santos (All Saints' Day) on 1 November, an important Spanish tradition when families remember and honour loved ones who have passed away. Some may also recognise Día de los Muertos, the colourful Mexican tradition of remembrance, although this is not traditionally celebrated in Spain in quite the same way.
And while the days grow shorter, there is still plenty happening throughout the region.
A Taste of Tradition in the Mountain Villages
The second weekend of November brings two lovely opportunities to head into the beautiful villages of the Axarquía and experience some authentic local traditions.
On Saturday 7 November, Alcaucín celebrates its Fiesta de la Castaña, the Chestnut Festival, bringing together autumn flavours, local produce, music and village festivities.
Then, on Sunday 8 November, Almáchar hosts the 10th edition of its Mercado Moscatel, celebrating the region's famous Moscatel raisins, local wines, traditional gastronomy and artisan products. Visitors can enjoy food tastings, traditional music, dancing and a wonderful selection of local produce.
These are the kinds of celebrations that make exploring the Axarquía so rewarding, particularly at this time of year.
Markets, Markets and More Markets!
Our local markets continue to thrive throughout the autumn months, offering everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to fashion, handmade crafts, household goods and unusual little finds.
Whether you're looking for fresh local produce, browsing for something special or simply enjoying a morning out, there's always a market worth visiting.
With so many different markets in Nerja and the Axarquía, from weekly street markets and flea markets to artisan and local produce markets, it can sometimes be tricky to know which is which! Our article - Not All Markets Are the Same - in the Market Kitchen section, explains what makes each one different and what you can expect to find. Take a look – you might discover somewhere new to explore!
Culture Throughout November
The Nerja Cultural Centre continues to offer a varied programme of performances and entertainment throughout November.
From live music and theatre to dance and other cultural performances, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy an evening out and support the local cultural scene.
Keep an eye on our Calendar for the latest performances, dates and programme details.
Christmas Is Just Around the Corner
And yes, although it might feel a little early, Christmas preparations are already beginning!
One of the most anticipated events of the season is the famous Málaga Christmas Lights, with the switch-on scheduled for Friday 27 November.
The spectacular illuminations along Calle Larios have become one of the great festive attractions of the Costa del Sol, drawing visitors from near and far to experience the city centre transformed into a dazzling Christmas wonderland.
As November progresses, we'll also be looking out for Christmas markets, festive activities, lights switch-ons and special seasonal events throughout Nerja and the Axarquía.
There's plenty to look forward to as we move towards December!
Keeping You Up to Date
As always, our Nerja Amigos Calendar is continually being updated.
New events, performances, village celebrations and local activities are often announced at short notice, and we do our very best to keep up with everything happening across Nerja and the Axarquía.
We update the Calendar every week, and often more frequently when new information becomes available, so do bear with us as programmes and details are confirmed.
If you would like to work in partnership with Nerja Amigos or promote your upcoming events through our growing platform, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch at info@nerjaamigos.com to explore opportunities to work together.
You can explore our Calendar on the Nerja Amigos website or through our Nerja Amigos “What's On” mobile app, available for Apple and Android.
