El Ingenio - The Closest Shopping Centre to Nerja
Located in Vélez-Málaga beside Torre del Mar, around 34km from Nerja and approximately a 25–30 minute drive away, Centro Comercial El Ingenio is the closest large shopping centre to Nerja.
For many residents and visitors, El Ingenio is the main destination for larger shopping trips, offering a combination of fashion, beauty, sports, technology and home stores together with restaurants, cafés and a cinema complex.
The centre includes many familiar high-street brands such as Zara, H&M, Mango, Pull & Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius, Massimo Dutti and Springfield, alongside sports and lifestyle stores including JD Sports, Décimas and Sprinter. Beauty and accessories shops such as Primor, Kiko Milano and Pandora are also popular stops, while MediaMarkt provides electronics and technology options.
One of the main attractions for the international community is the cinema, Cinesur El Ingenio. The cinema regularly screens the latest international releases, and visitors wanting to watch films in their original language should look for screenings marked “VOSE,” short for Versión Original Subtitulada en Español. These screenings show the original-language version with Spanish subtitles. Unless marked as VOSE, most films shown in Spanish cinemas are dubbed into Spanish.
El Ingenio also offers a range of casual dining and café options, making it easy to spend several hours at the centre. Restaurants and food outlets include Burger King, KFC, Dunkin’ Coffee, Muerde la Pasta, Buon Gusto, Cantina Mariachi and Llaollao, alongside smaller cafés and snack stops throughout the shopping centre.
