McArthurGlen Designer Outlet - Fashion, Food and a Shopping Day near Málaga

At Nerja Amigos, we will always encourage supporting local businesses, independent boutiques and family-run shops wherever possible — they are part of what gives our towns their personality, charm and community spirit.

But sometimes, if you are specifically looking for outlet shopping, international brands or simply a different kind of shopping day out, Designer Outlet Malaga has become one of the Costa del Sol’s most popular destinations.

Located just outside Málaga city, close to the airport and around an hour from Nerja, the outlet has turned shopping into something that feels far more like a relaxed Mediterranean day trip than a rushed retail experience.

Built in the style of an open-air Andalusian village, the outlet combines palm-lined walkways, sunny terraces and more than 100 international and premium brands, many offering significant discounts throughout the year.

Rather than the feel of a typical enclosed shopping centre, the space has been designed with a softer, more southern atmosphere in mind. Terracotta tones, outdoor seating areas and open plazas give it more the feeling of strolling through a modern Mediterranean town square than rushing through a mall.

Fashion lovers will recognise names such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Adidas, Karl Lagerfeld, Mango, Rituals and Scalpers among many others.

But what makes the experience particularly easy for Costa del Sol residents is simply how accessible it is. Located beside Plaza Mayor and close to Málaga Airport, the outlet can easily be reached by car or train, making it ideal for a spontaneous shopping day or even a rainy-day escape from the coast.

And once the shopping bags start to pile up, there are plenty of places to pause for coffee, lunch or something sweet. The atmosphere feels far more relaxed than many larger commercial centres, with outdoor cafés and restaurants encouraging visitors to slow down and enjoy the day.

For many Nerja Amigos readers, it may also become the perfect excuse to combine a shopping trip with a wider Málaga outing — perhaps lunch by the sea, a wander around the historic centre or an overnight city escape.

Because sometimes, especially living on the Costa del Sol, even practical things can still feel a little bit like lifestyle.

Note: Nerja Amigos has not visited the Outlet by public transport, so cannot say how long it takes. With car. ( 45min - 1 hour from Nerja).

And perhaps that is exactly the charm of Designer Outlet Malaga — it doesn’t simply invite you to shop, but to wander, browse and enjoy the day along the way.
